Athlete Ally Response to Lobbyist’s Bill Banning Gays from the NFL
Lobbyist Jack Burkman will reportedly introduce legislation today that would “ban gays from the NFL.” He also claims to have backing from several legislators in this effort.
Though this may sound preposterous and far-fetched, it is another illustration of the ignorance and bigotry that still exist in our society today with regard to equality for the LGBT community.
Fortunately, the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell have demonstrated a commitment to an inclusive culture in the league, and this proposed legislation clearly violates NFL policy.
