The National Football League has provided the following statement related to Texas’ anti-transgender bill SB6:
“If a proposal that is discriminatory or inconsistent with our values were to become law (in Texas), that would certainly be a factor considered when thinking about awarding future events,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said.
Athlete Ally Founder and Executive Director offered the following reaction.
“The sports community has once again made it clear that discrimination against the LGBT community is inconsistent with the value of sport. These statements from the NFL and NBA are a clear signal that SB6 is bad for business in Texas, and will put the state at risk of losing out on a lot of the sports that they’ve come to know and love.”
