Brock University Student’s Allyship Inspired by Olympic P6 Supporter Alex Duckworth

Logan Cordiner is a Sport Management student at Brock University in St. Cahterines, Ontario, Canada, who was inspired to get more active in her allyship by fellow Canadian and P6 supporter, Alex Duckworth. Below, she explains more.

My name is Logan Cordiner and I’m a 3rd year Sport Management student at Brock University. I snowboarded competitively from 2008-2011 and it remains an incredibly important part of my life. I ventured to the renowned Camp of Champions in Whistler, B.C in the summer of 2010 to progress and learn, where I met Athlete Ally Ambassador and Camp of Champions coach, Alex Duckworth.

Since 2010, I followed Alex’s journey to the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games where I was inspired by Alex’s involvement with the campaign and decided to take action in my own community and the athletic community at Brock.

Brock has the largest Sport Management program in Canada and our students’ work so closely with our athletes and teams that starting a chapter of Athlete Ally at Brock will only help to diversify our athletic community. I’m really excited to be expanding Athlete Ally into our community and helping to empower our athletes, coaches and teams to take action on LGBT inclusiveness.
