Athlete Ally Stands in Support of Cycling Champion Rachel McKinnon

Athlete Ally sends congratulations and support to Rachel McKinnon, who last week became the first trans champion of the of the UCI Masters Track Cycling World Championship in the women’s 35-44 age bracket. Despite maintaining testosterone levels within the required range, McKinnon has faced backlash simply for being a trans woman athlete.

Trans athletes, like all athletes, deserve to be welcomed, included and supported in sport. This situation points to a greater need for LGBTQ education within sports, and for accessible trans-inclusive policies and practices.
