Athlete Ally Ambassador Ranks Grow to 100, College Football Expert Yogi Roth is Newest Addition

Athlete Ally is proud to announce that Pac-12 Networks college football analyst, former coach, Emmy-nominated documentary producer and New York Times best-selling author Yogi Roth is the organization’s 100th Athlete Ally Ambassador. Roth’s efforts as an Ambassador will focus specifically on inspiring allyship in college football.

“To be the 100th member of the Athlete Ally team is something I’m humbled and proud of,” said Roth. “Together, we plan on actively partnering with college football programs to join the rapidly growing movement toward respecting everyone, regardless of sexual orientation.”

Roth, a former wide receiver at the University of Pittsburgh, was an assistant coach at USC under Pete Carroll for four seasons. Roth and Carroll co-wrote the best seller Win Forever, a philosophy and approach for success on and off the field. Roth also wrote the book From PA to LA, where he discussed how sports, travel and adventure developed his own winning philosophy towards life. Roth will utilize his expertise as a transformational leader in engaging the college football community to more actively convey its embrace of LGBT inclusion. His initiative begins with promotion of the hashtag #Football4All.

“I’ve been fortunate to travel to over 20 countries and work in more than 100 locker rooms and in each setting the common trait is respect. Ranging from respecting one’s skill set to one’s religion. Now, we are witnessing coaches, teammates and fans begin to respect each other’s sexual orientation. To celebrate that and continue to compete to raise awareness that football has no boundaries we encourage everyone to use the hashtag #Football4All, as this great game has no color, no religion and no sexual preference.”

“Yogi’s expert knowledge of college football and keen understanding of how competing in sports can bring out the best in all of us, makes him an incredible addition to our organization,” said Athlete Ally Founder & Executive Director Hudson Taylor. “We are excited to work with him and help ensure that LGBT inclusion continues to grow in college football.”

With the addition of Roth, Athlete Ally now has Ambassadors in 20 sports spanning 15 countries. For more on Roth, read his new Huffington Post Op Ed on the state of LGBT acceptance in college football, see his Ambassador profile or visit his website at www.yogiroth.com.
