“It is important to me that sports become a space where everyone can be themselves because I know first-hand the positive impact it can have. I want sport to become a safe haven for queer people who are struggling to find a community that will support them and allow them to thrive. I hope that by coming out I will show the next generation of LGBTQ+ athletes that they will be welcomed and celebrated for being true to themselves.”
