500+ Athletes Sign Amicus Brief for Abortion Rights

September 21, 2021 — On Monday, more than 500 professional, college and high school athletes signed an amicus brief calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to support abortion rights and oppose abortion restrictions.

This brief, submitted together with more than 50 briefs representing nearly ten thousand individuals, hundreds of organizations, and over a thousand government officials, supports the Center for Reproductive Rights’ case   Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case brought by the Center for Reproductive Rights and its co-counsel in response to Mississippi law banning nearly all abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, and in response to the state’s call to overturn Roe v. Wade. The case will be argued at the Supreme Court on December 1, 2021.

Athlete Ally is proud to support the Center for Reproductive Rights, former Athlete Ally Board Member and Olympian Casey Legler and Chris Mosier in organizing and mobilizing Athlete Ally Ambassadors to sign on to this brief. Read the full brief here.
