Athlete Ally Board of Directors Matches Reward for Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center Break-In

In light of the appalling burglary of the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center this week, Athlete Ally’s Board of Directors is matching the original $5,000 reward from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department for information leading to an arrest in the case.

As one of the first institutions in sport to commit to education about LGBT inclusion in athletics, the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center has played an integral part in the efforts of Athlete Ally to make sports a place where everyone is welcome, without prejudice or stereotypes. Partnering with Athlete Ally, the museum created a groundbreaking exhibit Allyship, which showcases the moments throughout sports history when allies helped impact societal change. Yogi Berra became an Athlete Ally Ambassador in 2013.

Yogi Berra’s legacy of greatness is one which is defined by the idea of fairness and respect, and he and the incredible staff at the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center have stood by us as ardent partners and supporters of LGBT inclusion in sports. Now, Athlete Ally  will stand with them as authorities work to determine who is responsible for this heinous act.
Athlete Ally’s Board of Directors includes: Mike Balaban, Sean Avery, former NHL player, Brendon Ayanbadejo, former NFL player, Fran Boller, Laura Clise, Brian Ellner, Allison Grover, Lia Parifax, Christine Quinn, Fred Raffetto, Rob Smith, Joe Solmonese, Mark Stephanz, Sandye Taylor, and Andrew Ward.
