Athlete Ally Ambassador Brendon Ayanbadejo Heads to the AFC Championship

January 15, 2013

As we head into the final games of the 2012-2013 NFL season, we're reminded of just how lucky we are at Athlete Ally to have support from Baltimore Ravens player Brendon Ayanbadejo. The special teams standanout and three-time NFL all-star will help lead the Baltimore Ravens against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship this Sunday, January 20th at 6:30 pm. As Brendon prepares for one of the biggest games of his life, we'd like to thank him for his continued advocacy for the LGBT community, and wish him lots of luck this weekend.

Brendon sets an example for NFL players and athletes around the world by effectively using his role as an athlete to do good. Not only has he been a vocal supporter of LGBT rights who's refused to be silenced,  he's also worked tirelessly to support youth programs in his native Chicago, and co-founded an organization that seeks to address and rectify the shortage of African-Americans involved in higher education.

The support of a hugely popular, vastly talented NFL star like Brendon is an incredible asset to Athlete Ally and the LGBT community as a whole. Regardless of the outcome of Sunday's game, Brendon will make a distinct difference by being there and representing the values of equality and acceptance he espouses.
